Which questions separate the scopes?
Ask whether the equipment is open to ambient air, which weather protection is required, how service access works, and whether acoustic or environmental control is part of the design.
| Question | Canopy | Enclosure |
|---|---|---|
| Boundary | Partial cover or frame | More complete room or casing |
| Airflow | Open environment or defined path | Designed inlet and discharge |
| Access | Equipment access from open sides | Doors and panels |
| Acoustic | May be outside scope | May include treatment |
| Drawing risk | Interface omissions | Performance assumptions |

What should the buyer specify?
Specify equipment, location, weather, access, ventilation, exhaust, cable, fuel, lifting and acoustic requirements. Avoid using canopy or enclosure as a complete performance description.
- Approved equipment outline
- Maintenance access
- Environmental exposure
- Airflow and exhaust
- Acoustic requirement
- Interface ownership
What does the drawing service deliver?
The drawing service can organise approved geometry and interfaces. It does not decide which protection type is suitable or certify the performance of the finished equipment.
Common questions
What else should the bid team know?
Does a drawing pack certify acoustic or thermal performance?
No. Acoustic predictions, ventilation performance and certification require qualified review against the project inputs and applicable requirements.
Can enclosure dimensions be guessed from the genset name?
No. Use the approved vendor outline, service clearances and project constraints. Missing dimensions remain open.
Who approves the engineering design?
The responsible registered engineer or qualified project reviewer approves engineering content and performs sign-off.
