What does the source support?

nVent discusses galvanic corrosion where dissimilar metals contact in the presence of an electrolyte such as moisture. Its paper concerns air-conditioner coils and protective coatings. That mechanism is useful background for raising an interface question; it does not certify an enclosure joint or prescribe its fastener selection.

Genset Enclosures is independent and is not affiliated with nVent. Use the actual environment and approved enclosure and hardware details. The materials specialist, manufacturer and responsible engineer decide the required treatment.

Which interfaces should be traceable?

Give each reviewed joint a location and detail reference. Include hinges, brackets and external attachments as appropriate to the actual package. Record what is unknown instead of completing a material schedule from a similar product.

Why can a material label leave the joint unresolved?

Illustrative example. A fictional schedule specifies an aluminum panel and stainless fasteners. It omits the washer material, interface coating and approved treatment for the stated exposure. The reviewer records those missing inputs rather than marking the whole joint acceptable because one component is stainless.

The example does not predict a corrosion rate or say the pairing always fails. Adding an insulating element without approval could also affect mechanical fit or a required electrical bond. Ask for the complete approved detail rather than substituting a generic prevention tip.

What should the fabrication handover contain?

Link the final material and finish schedule to the approved joint detail and any manufacturer restrictions. Reopen the review if a finish, fastener or exposure basis changes. Keep the technical disposition rather than replacing it with an unsupported corrosion-proof claim.

This is a documentation review, not a coating specification, corrosion-life guarantee or grounding design. Engineering sign-off is performed only by the registered engineer on the job.

Common questions

What else should the bid team know?

Does stainless hardware establish compatibility?

No. Review the complete joint, materials and exposure.

Should an insulating washer always be added?

No. Obtain the approved detail and coordinate required mechanical and electrical functions.

Does this register predict enclosure life?

No. It records evidence and questions for the technical owners.
